Spent a majority of last night learning this program. Now, I’ve used Zbrush quite a bit in the past, but I have to say I still hate the learning curve and interface. I just can’t get past it. With my tablet it has this misleading quality that makes me think I can draw like normal on these models and have a blast, but then things get moving and I find myself using my mouse for a majority of sculpting totally taking away its appeal. I know its on me, and that Zbrush is used a ton professionally, but it just lacks personality and ease of use that I yearn for.
Step in Sculptris! Pixologic has picked up this program which was looking to be a Zbrush alternative a few years back and they have really done an amazing job with it! I was able to jump right in and start using it! Brushes are all set up on easy to remember hotkeys and hey guess what, you can hide the interface! Total immersion. Simple to use, their spacebar menu couldnt be sweeter and I had a blast! Its a lot of fun, and best of all, its free. Perfect!
